Killaloe OPP Weekly Release

During the week of the 5 December 2016, to the 11 December 2016, there were 111 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.

There were eighteen motor vehicle collisions, eight were animal related.

There were two domestic dispute calls for service during the week of the 5 December 2016, to the 11 December 2016. There were two domestic related incidents involving criminal code charges.

Assault

On the 6 December 2016 at approximately 11:20 a.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Ryan Lapierre and Constable Jeff Cole received a domestic dispute call for service on Water Street, Bonnechere Valley Twp. Subsequent to police investigation, a 22 yr. old female from Bonnechere Valley Twp. was arrested and charged with Assault section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with conditions, court date, Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Assault

On the 10 December 2016 at approximately 10:16 a.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Jon Anderson and Constable Kyle Fabian received a domestic dispute call for service on Boland Street, Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. Subsequent to police investigation, a 24 yr. old male from Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. was arrested and charged with Assault, section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was held for bail wash court, Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Collisions

On the 7 December 2016 at approximately 1:05 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Barry Nisbet received a two vehicle collision call for service on Bay Street, Madawaska Valley Twp. Charged with Fail to Yield to Oncoming Traffic section 144(8) of the Highway Traffic Act is 65 yr. old Audrey BROMWICH of Madawaska Valley Twp. The defendant was issued a Provincial Offence Act notice. There were no reported injuries.

On the 9 December 2016 at approximately 5:22 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Julie McPeak received a single vehicle collision call for service on Bonnechere St West, Bonnechere Valley Twp. A van ran off the road and struck a hydro pole, causing a small fire. The driver received minor injuries. The vehicle was towed. Hydro One was contacted regarding the downed hydro wires.

Fraud

On the 7 December 2016 at approximately 9:31 a.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Barry Nisbet received a fraud call for service on Ryan Street, Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. The complainant received a call from Reader’s Digest telling him he had won a lottery. Prior to collecting the prize, a large sum of money was requested. The complaint contact police realizing that this was in fact a fraud. The OPP are reminding the community that a legitimate prize win will not request any sum of money be paid up front. Be smart and cautious especially during the Christmas Season.
