Killaloe OPP Weekly Release

During the week of the 13 February 2017, to the 20 February 2017, there were 99 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.

There were seventeen motor vehicle collisions, seven were animal related.

There were three domestic dispute calls for service during the week of the 13 February 2017, to the 20 February 2017. There was one domestic related incident involving criminal code charges.

Domestic Breach of Court Order

On the 16 February 2017 at approximately 9:13 am, Killaloe OPP Constable Andrew Wierzbicki received a domestic dispute call for service on Horseshoe Lane, Madawaska Valley Twp. As a result of police investigation, a 61 yr. old male from Hastings Highlands has been charged with Disobey Court Order, section 127 of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear, Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Break and Enter

On the 19 February 2017 at approximately 11:47 a.m. Killaloe OPP Constable Ryan Lapierre received a break and enter call for service on Shingwak Inamo, Pikwakanagan Ontario First Nation. The complainant reported that his ice shack had been entered. A wood stove, various fishing items and an ice auger had been stolen. Charges are pending. This incident remains under investigation.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

On the 16 February 2017, at approximately 12: 48 pm, Killaloe OPP Constable Neil Gonzalez received a two vehicle collision call for service on 60 Highway, North Algona Wilberforce Twp. A pick-up truck had collided with a snow plow. As a result of police investigation, 53 yr. old Alfonse LUCKOVITCH, of Madawaska Valley Twp. has been charged with Speeding, section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant was issued a Provincial Offence Act Notice. There were no reported injuries. The pick-up truck was towed.

On the 16 February 2017 at approximately 3:46 p.m., Killaloe OPP received a motor vehicle collision call for service involving a school bus on Combermere Road, Madawaska Valley Twp. As a result of police investigation, 44 yr. old Kelly KLINK of Madawaska Valley Twp. has been charged with Start From Stopped Position Not In Safety, section 142(2) of the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant was issued a Provincial Offence Act Notice. There were no reported injuries, and no tow required.

On the 18 February 2017 at approximately 3: 58 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Chris Teasdale received a collision call for service involving a snowmobile on Wadsworth Lake, Madawaska Valley Twp. A 44 yr. old male from North Algona Wilberforce Twp. was transported to hospital by ORNGE Air with non-life threatening injuries. This incident remains under investigation.

On the 19 February 2017 at approximately 12:17 pm. Killaloe OPP Constable Glenn Yaraskavitch received a collision call for service involving a snowmobile on Arbor Vitae Road, Madawaska Valley Twp. The female driver of the snowmobile had stuck a fallen tree, and was transported to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. There were no charges laid.

Suspended Driver Charged

On the 18 February 2017 at approximately 1: 40 pm, OPP Constable Kevin Rebertz conducted a traffic stop on Highway 60, in North Algona Wilberforce Twp. The 35 yr. old male driver from Madawaska Valley Twp. was charged with Speeding, section 128 and Suspended Driving, section 53 of the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant was issued was summons to appear in court, Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe.

Impaired Driving Charges

On the 19 February 2017, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Jeff Turnbull and Constable Devin Leeworthy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 60, Bonnechere Valley Twp. Subsequent to police investigation, 36 yr. old Jennifer BAKHUYZEN from Renfrew has been charged with Impaired Diving, section 253(1) (a) and Over 80 section 253(1) (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused has released on a Promise to Appear, Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The licence was suspended and the vehicle towed.
