Killaloe OPP Weekly Press Release

During the week of April 10, 2017, to April 17, 2017 there were 121 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.

There were sixteen motor vehicle collisions, ten were animal related.

There were two domestic dispute calls for service, and one domestic dispute resulting in criminal code charges.

Weapons Charges

On Thursday April 13, 2017 at approximately 7:57 pm, members of the Killaloe OPP responded to a weapons call for service at a residence in Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. As a result of police investigation, a 48 yr. old male from Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. has been charged with Careless Storage of a Firearm and 3 counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to a Prohibition Order, Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was held for a bail hearing, Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Breach of Probation Charges

On Wednesday April 12, 2017 at approximately 12:27 pm, members of the Killaloe OPP responded to a family dispute call for service on Bonnechere Street, Bonnechere Valley Twp. As a result of police investigation, 29 yr. old Jayson DEXTER of Bonnechere Valley Twp. has been charged 2 counts of Fail to Comply With Probation Order, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was released on an Appearance Notice, Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe, court date Wednesday June 7, 2017, 9:30 am.

Break and Enter

On Monday April 17, 2017 at approximately 4:30 pm, Killaloe OPP Sgt. Ivan Pelletier responded to a break and enter call for service on Kinders Lane, Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Twp. A cottage had been entered through a window. Nothing was stolen. This incident remains under investigation.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

On Tuesday April 11, 2017 at approximately 10:17 pm, Killaloe OPP Constable Devin Leeworthy responded to a single motor vehicle collision call for service on Galeairy Lake Road, South Algonquin Twp. Renfrew County Ambulance transported the driver to hospital with minor injuries. The vehicle sustained damages and was towed. No charges laid.

On Saturday April 15, 2017 at approximately 10:57 am, Killaloe Constable Ryan Szczygiel responded to a single motor vehicle collision call for service on Highway 60, Algonquin Park. A vehicle struck the guardrails causing damages. The driver was charged with Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The vehicle was towed. No injuries.

On Monday April 17, 2017 at approximately 10:31 am, Killaloe OPP Constable Devin Leeworthy responded to a single motor vehicle collision call for service on Link Road, North Algona Wilberforce Twp. The driver struck a muddy patch and flipped the motor vehicle. The vehicle was towed. No injuries and no charges.
