(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) ā The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 36-year-old male with multiple criminal offences after investigating a disturbance at a Lock Street East, Dunnville, Haldimand County, Ontario address.
On Thursday November 24, 2016, at approximately 7:30 p.m., OPP responded to Lock Street East for a disturbance where it was reported that several people were involved in an argument outside of a residence which escalated into a physical confrontation resulting in a male being injured.
Witnesses told police the suspect had fled the scene prior to their arrival.
OPP investigation has determined that several people were involved in an argument when a male approached another male brandishing an edged weapon. During the altercation, the male was injured.
Haldimand County paramedics attended and transported the male to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Canine Unit attended to search for the suspect. The suspect was located a short time later.
OPP has charged 36-year-old Kevin ONIS of no fixed address with:
Aggravated Assault
Assault with a Weapon
Possession of a Schedule I Substance
Possession of a Schedule II Substance
And two counts of Failing to Comply with a Probation Order
He was held for a bail hearing to be held in Provincial Court in Cayuga.
