(TECUMSEH, ON)β The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to attend a four vehicle collision on December 18, 2015 at approximately midnight on Manning Road in Tecumseh.
A row of vehicles was stopped on Manning Road in the northbound lane, between Essex County Road 42 and Essex County Road 22 awaiting a train to pass on the railroad tracks. Just as the crossing arms were disengaging, a Chevrolet struck a vehicle, which in turn struck another vehicle causing a chain reaction involving 4 vehicles.
Tecumseh Fire and Rescue Service as well as Essex Windsor Emergency Medical Service (EMS) attended. Two people were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet left the scene of the crash but was later located a short distance away. He was arrested.
Kevin BENETEAU, age 45 of Tecumseh, was charged with Fail to Stop at the Scene of an Accident contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He will appear in a Windsor court on January 26, 2016 to answer to the charge.
