Kenneth VAN-EYK – Drunk Driving, Passed Out Behind The Wheel

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On December 17, 2014 at approximately 9:17 p.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a private laneway on a property on Gainsborough Road west of Denfield Road in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre.

When police arrived, they noticed an unresponsive male sitting in the driver seat of the vehicle that had noticeable damage sustained to it. Once police gained access to the driver, it was apparent he had been drinking and was impaired. The driver was transported to a local hospital for medical assessment. Further tests were conducted at the hospital. As a result of the investigation, police charged the lone occupant, male Kenneth VAN-EYK, age 51 of Strathroy, ON with:

Care or Control While Impaired – Criminal Code of Canada
Care or Control Over 80 milligrams– Criminal Code of Canada
Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Unsealed Container of Liquor – Liquor Licence Act

London Police Service is continuing the investigation regarding the vehicle damage.

The vehicle has been impounded for seven days and the accused’s driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days.

The accused was later released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom February 26, 2015 to speak to the charges.
