(MOOSONEE, ON) – On February 10, 2017 at approximately 4:20 p.m., Moosonee Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a motor vehicle lose control while traveling eastbound on Butcher Road before striking a snowbank. Police then conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle on Wabun Road.
While speaking with the driver, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages.
As a result of this investigation Kenneth CORSTON (50), of Moosonee, Ontario has been charged with the following offences:
Driving a motor vehicle while ability impaired contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on April 4, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Moosonee.
The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects that a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
