Prescott,Ont.) – Between Monday December7st to Sunday December 13th 2016, the Prescott Office of the Grenville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 104 general occurrences. Of these occurrences, 30 were in Edwardsburgh /Cardinal Township, 25 in Augusta Township, 24 in the town of Prescott, 25 on highway 401 and 416.
On December the 6th police were conducting radar enforcement on highway 401 in Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Township. At this location, the traffic enforcement officer noted a blue Chrysler, travelling east bound at 158km/hr. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 26 year old male, from North York, Ontario. The driver was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle, under the Highway Traffic Act. The driver’s motor vehicle was seized for 7 days and his driver’s license was suspended for 7 days.
On December the 6th, at approximately 11:30am, the Grenville County Crime Unit, conducted a search warrant at a residence located on County Road 2, in Cardinal. The OPP recovered stolen property at this location. Mark Chapman, age 50, of Cardinal was charged with :
Altering/destroying a vehicle identification number
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00
On December the 9th, the OPP investigated 2 reported breaks and enters, on Algonquin Road and 1 on McCully Road, in Augusta Township. The 3 break and enters had occurred during the day, when the homeowners were not at their residence. The suspect(s) stole numerous electronics and jewelry items. The OPP Forensic Identification Services attended to assist in the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
