(Prescott,Ont.) – Between Monday January 23st, to Sunday January 29th 2017, the Prescott Office of the Grenville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 65 general occurrences. Of these occurrences, 22 were in Edwardsburgh /Cardinal Township, 6 in Augusta Township, 25 in the town of Prescott and 12 on highway 401 and 416.
On January 24th, 2017 at approximately 4am, the OPP were informed of a male who was acting strange at the eastbound service center, near Mallorytown. It was reported that the male was not making sense and had departed in a Ford Escape, travelling eastbound on the 401 highway. A Prescott OPP officer stopped the noted vehicle at Blue Church road, in Augusta Township. The officer confronted the driver, who continued to talk and sing with nonsense words. The 58 year old male from Hastings Highlands was charged with:
driving while under suspension
Possession of a schedule II substance-cannabis marihuana-under 30 grams
On January the 25th, a resident in Cardinal contacted the OPP to report a theft of close to 300 empty beer cans. The cans had been left on his Helen street front porch. An unknown suspect stole the cans sometime overnight.
On January the 29th, at approximately 12pm, officers assisted the Canadian Border Services, at the Prescott-Ogdensburg International Bridge. At this location, Boarder Security had a male in custody for possession of a weapon and drugs. The male, Jun SHAO, age 25 from Ottawa was charged with:
unauthorized possession of a weapon
possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – heroin
possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-other drugsx2
