(Kemptville, ON.) – Between August 22nd and August 28th, the Kemptville Office of Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police investigated 125 general occurrences: 28 Kemptville, 62 Municipality of North Grenville, 23Village of Merrickville – Wolford and 12 on Highway 416.
Sometime during the weekend of August 20th and 21st, culprit(s) stole an e-bike out of an unlocked garage on Main Street in Merrickville. The bike is described as a 2011 green Ecoped Puls. The investigation is ongoing. The OPP is reminding the public to keep garages and outbuildings locked at all times.
On the afternoon of August 22nd, a Honda Accord was stopped on Highway 416 for driving 159 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The 47 year old male driver from North Grenville was charged with racing a motor vehicle – excessive speed.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on August 23rd, a Chevrolet Cavalier was stopped on Prescott Street in the Town of Kemptville for playing Pokémon while driving. The 31 year old driver from North Grenville was charged with driving a motor vehicle in contravention of conditions and driving a motor vehicle on a highway while using a hand-held wireless communication device.
On August 23rd, police received a report of a theft of gas and damage to trucks parked on property on County Road 43 and owned by Myers Chev-Olds in Kemptville. The investigation is ongoing.
On August 24th, culprit(s) entered a vehicle and shed at a residence on Read Street in Merrickville and stole a variety of chain saws and outdoor power equipment. The investigation is ongoing.
On the morning of August 24th, culprit(s) entered Merrickville Drug Mart on Wellington Street East and stole medication. The OPP Forensic Identification Unit attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
Update: On the evening of August 12th, a 21 year old male from North Grenville was assaulted at a residence on County Road 18, North Grenville resulting in serious bodily harm. Joshua John Michael Powell, age 26 of Kemptville was charged with failing to comply with a probation order, assault and assault causing bodily harm. The ongoing investigation resulted in further charges.
Bradley FUMERTON, age 21 of North Grenville has been charged with assault causing bodily harm. Jordan POWELL, age 18 and Quincy O’SHEA, age 18 both of North Grenville are charged with mischief under $5,000 and assault causing bodily harm.
The accused are scheduled to appear in Kemptville Court on October 5th, 2016.
