Kawartha Lakes OPP Press Release

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – This past weekend officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to over 90 calls for service.

Early Saturday morning, December 17, 2016, at approximately 3:30am police initiated a vehicle stop on Peniel Road for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. After an investigation the driver, Brett SMITH 26 years of age of Uxbridge, was arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) and Driving With More Than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on January 19, 2017.

On Saturday afternoon shortly after 3pm police responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 7 west of Lindsay. The vehicle was located a short time later and after an investigation the driver, 34 year old Stephen JOSEPHSON of Sunderland was arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the CCC and Driving With More Than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on January 12, 2017.

Early Sunday morning, December 18, 2016, at approximately 4:45am, police responded to a theft of copper wire from a business in the south of the City of Kawartha Lakes. Police located the vehicle containing the stolen product and arrested Donald STRONG, 37 years of age of Oshawa and Harold HUMBER, 39 years of age of Oshawa. They are charged with Possession of Stolen Property contrary to section 355(b) CCC and Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) CCC. The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on January 26, 2017.
