(TRENT HILLS, ON) – On Saturday November 23, 2013 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was following a motorist who braked abruptly and veered off onto the shoulder coming to a sudden stop. The officer checked on the female driver to ensure there was no emergency.
At approximately 4:35 pm the OPP officer was travelling westbound on County Road 35 following a 2002 black Jeep when it braked suddenly, veered off to the north gravel shoulder and stopped suddenly. The officer found this concerning and stopped to check on the motorist to ensure there wasn’t an emergency.
The officer requested a check of the driver and vehicle documents which were not provided to him by the female driver. The officer was not advised as to why the female pulled over so suddenly but everything appeared to be okay.
Katrina Marie KOLAREK, 26 from Marmora, Ontario has been issued summonses for Provincial Offences Court for drive while under suspension, no currently validated permit, fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act and owner operate motor vehicle on a highway – no insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. The accused is schedule to appear in traffic court on Thursday January 23, 2014 in Campbellford, Ontario.
Operating a motor vehicle on a highway without insurance can result upon first conviction in a penalty of not less than $5,000 but not more than $25,000.
