(COLBORNE, ON) – On December 17, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a serious neighbor dispute that resulted in criminal charges for a Colborne resident.
At about 5:17 pm on Wednesday, OPP officers received information that a female was operating a 2008 Jeep Liberty in the back yard of a King Street residence, going around in circles tearing up the lawn. The male home owner was at the residence and was almost struck two times as he tried to avoid the Jeep. She struck a fence dividing the properties and two planters at the end of the driveway. The woman also drove towards the man’s minivan where his wife, three children and one of their friends were still sitting inside. The man threw a pipe at the Jeep as he jumped out of the way a third time to get the woman to stop. The rear window of the Jeep was smashed. She yelled death threats at the man as she left and was heard by witnesses who saw her driving in circles.
Officers attended to the home and saw the large ruts in the ground. They had left the scene to try to locate the woman but she had returned shortly after Police had departed, only to begin driving around in circles on the man’s FRONT yard. Estimated cost of repairs for damages is approximately $3,000.
As a result of their investigation, OPP arrested and charged Katherin CARRIERE, age 40 of Colborne. She has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
Assault with a weapon
Mischief under $5,000
Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and has been remanded into custody to appear again in the Ontario Court of Justice on Monday December 22, 2014 at 1:30 pm in Cobourg.
