Kachina SMOKE – Drunk Driving

(CHIPPEWAS OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – On November 14, 2016, at approximately 4:02 p.m., the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation Police and Oneida Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a motor vehicle in the ditch on Muncey Road.

Officers located the motor vehicle, a silver Chevrolet sport utility vehicle (SUV), and determined that the 20-year-old female driver had been drinking alcohol. She was placed under arrest, and transported to a Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment for breath tests, which revealed she had consumed more than three times the legal limit of alcohol.

As a result of the police investigation, Kachina SMOKE, from Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, Ontario, has been charged with driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol), and drive with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to answer the charges in a London, Ontario, court on January 5, 2017.
