K9 Tracked Down Raphael MITCHELL

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Saturday, December 19, 2015 at approximately 11:45 p.m., a Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer checked a parked vehicle that was obstructing the roadway on Hwy. 10 north of Road 180 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The officer located a lone male driver inside the 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier vehicle with an open container of alcohol and determined that the driver had been drinking. A roadside breath demand was made by the officer and, while accompanying the driver back to the cruiser, the male bolted and fled on foot. He was last seen entering a river nearby.

The OPP Canine unit attended to assist in the search for the male who was eventually located and found suffering from hypothermia. He was transported to hospital where he was treated and released.

46-year old Raphael MITCHELL of North York, Ontario was charged with fail/refuse to provide a breath sample and escape lawful custody under the Criminal Code.

He is to appear in court in Owen Sound on January 11, 2016.
