Justin LAMOTHE – Drinking And Driving, No Insurance

(SUDBURY, ON)- On November 20, 2015, at 8:05 p.m., members of the Espanola Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a traffic complaint regarding a male driving thru a fast food restaurant lineup situated at the Junction of Highway 17 and Highway 6, in the town of McKerrow and being observed to be consuming alcohol.

Police observed the passenger car travelling eastbound on Highway 17 and initiated a traffic stop in the Town of Nairn Centre. It was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. A roadside breath test was administered. The driver registered a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) in the “Warn Range” of .05 to .08 .

As a result of the investigation, Justin LAMOTHE, 24 years of age, from Walden, was issued an immediate roadside driver’s licence suspension for three days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for 7 days.

LAMOTHE was also charged with the following offences:

Adult – Driving while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Adult – Operating a motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

Adult – Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, on January 14, 2016 to answer to his charges.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
