(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On Sunday, March 15, 2015 at approximately 4:35 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Hwy. 6 & 10 south of Rockford in the Township of Georgian Bluffs after the driver was suspected of distracted driving.
Once stopped, the officer observed a cell phone near the driver but also found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. After failing a road side breath test, the driver was arrested for impaired driving and brought to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment for further breath tests which she failed.
Further investigation revealed that the accused’s driver licence had been suspended due to a previous impaired driving conviction. The vehicle, a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina, was impounded for 45 days.
Julie-Lynn Elizabeth LAYCOCK, age 42, of the Municipality of Meaford, was charged with impaired – over 80 mgs and driving while disqualified under the Criminal Code.
She is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on April 2, 2015.
