(Prince Edward County, ON) On 10 August 2017 approximately 5:30pm, a concerned citizen called the Prince Edward Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report an erratic driver on Elizabeth Street in the town of Picton. The complainant further reported the vehicle had now parked and the female driver entered a business located nearby.
OPP officers responded and located the driver exiting the business and noticed she was displaying signs of impairment.
The woman was arrested and brought back to the detachment where she provided samples of her breath which confirmed her blood alcohol was in excess of the legal limit.
Julia SMYTH age 49yrs of Picton has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operate Over 80mgs. SMYTH will attend the Ontario Court of Justice Picton on 30 August 2017 to answer to the charges.
