Joshua SWIFT – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On December 31, 2016 at approximately 12:13 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Festive R.I.D.E. Unit were conducting spot checks on Highway 6 near College Avenue in the City of Guelph. A 2006 Acura entered the R.I.D.E. program and while officers were speaking with the driver an odour of alcohol was detected on his breath and signs of physical impairment were observed. The male driver was placed under arrest for impaired driving and was transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

31-year-old Joshua SWIFT of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 27, 2017. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
