Joseph Patrick NISBET – Tried To Avoid RIDE

(HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Saturday December 20, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had set up a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check on County Road 45 in Baltimore when a vehicle made an abrupt turn in efforts to avoid the officers.

At about 12:32 am, Northumberland OPP officers observed a 2007 GMC pick up truck northbound on County Road 45 approaching the RIDE spot check when it made an abrupt turn on The Gully Road to avoid entering the check. Officers patrolled the area and found the truck on Community Centre Road at about 12:34 am.

The officer entered into an investigation with the driver to determine his sobriety. The lone male driver exhibited signs of consumption and was taken to Brighton OPP for breath tests.

Joseph Patrick NISBET, age 27 from Cobourg, Ontario has been charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and care and control of a motor vehicle – over 80 mgs. He was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday January 7, 2014 in Cobourg.

The accused was also issued a 90 driver’s licence suspension and had his vehicle impounded for seven days.
