Joseph PALKO – Drunk Driving, Drugs

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – A driver has been charged with driving while having too much to drink as he intervened with officers at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check in the Municipality of Thames Centre.

On December 19, 2014 at approximately 10:35 p.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a RIDE program on Hamilton Road by Mill Road when they detected alcohol on the breath of a driver who came to the spot check.

A roadside test was administered and the driver failed. The driver was arrested. Further investigation revealed the driver was in possession of a substance suspected as marijuana. The accused was brought to a local police detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, the male driver Joseph PALKO age 37 of London, Ontario has been charged with Driving With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Marijuana Under 30 grams.

The accused was later released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom February 27, 2015 to speak to the charges.
