Joint investigation into stolen vehicles

(Ottawa) The Ottawa Police Service Organized Auto Theft Section, in conjunction with the Sécurité publique de la MRC des Collines, completed an investigation which resulted in the seizure of stolen vehicles and the arrest of persons of interest.

Today, five suspects were arrested and taken into custody; and a total of 14 vehicles were seized in La Pêche, Val-des-Monts and Gatineau (QC) and in Ottawa and Burlington (ON). An estimated $900,000.00’s worth of stolen vehicles was recovered through this joint operation. No charges have been laid at this time.

The joint investigation was the result of a working partnership with Sécurité publique de la MRC des Collines, Halton Regional Police, St-Jerome Police and Ottawa Police. Also involved was the Insurance Bureau of Canada and the Ministry of Transportation.

This joint investigation is ongoing and charges are expected to be laid.
