JOINT FORCE POLICE INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN NUMEROUS CHARGES AND SEIZED CONTRABAND

(LEAMINGTON, ON) –On Wednesday August 27, 2014, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Drug Enforcement Unit-Windsor, Essex County OPP Street Crimes Unit, working jointly with Royal Canadian Mounted Police (R.C.M.P.) and the Ministry of Finance, executed search warrants at Erie Convenience store located at 91 Erie Street South in Leamington.

The police investigation began following information that illegal narcotics were being allegedly sold at the convenience store. Two other search warrants were executed at residences on Emerson Street and Sturgeon Meadows in Leamington in relation to this investigation. Four residents were arrested during the search warrant execution. Police seized a quantity of fentanyl, oxycontin, cash, contraband tobacco as well as a 2000 Chrysler Intrepid and a 2005 GMC Envoy.

As a result of the investigation four persons have been arrested and charged with numerous offences.

Sattar AL SHIBAWI, (48-year-old male) from Leamington, Ontario.

1 x Unlawfully Possessing Unstamped Tobacco
1 x Unlawfully Purchasing Unstamped Tobacco

Fahat ROBIAH, (56-year-old male) from Leamington, Ontario.

Al UBEIDE was scheduled to appear in Provincial Court Windsor on August 28, 2014. The remaining co-accused are scheduled for a first appearance on September 29, 2014 in Windsor to answer to the Excise Act 2001 offences and October 30, 2014 in Leamington to answer to the remaining criminal charges.
