(CHATHAM, ON) On January 20, 2017, around 3:15 a.m., a member of Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on St Clair Street near Maryknoll Road.
While speaking with the driver, the officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol. A roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a “Fail”. The driver was transported to the detachment for further tests. While enroute to the detachment, the driver made threatening remarks to the officer.
As a result, the male driver, John ROBERT, 44-years-old of Chatham, Ontario, has charged with the following:
drive motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada,
uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was held for a bail hearing to answer to the charges.
Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is actively monitoring the “Big 4” driving behaviours; impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and seatbelt usage.
