(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 38 year old driver is now facing charges of Racing and Drive a Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol following a traffic stop Friday afternoon. On July 4, 2014 shortly before 6:00 p.m. a West Region Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) traffic unit member observed the driver of Dodge Dakota racing 50 km/h over the posted 80 km/h speed limit on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway.
The pickup truck was stopped on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway near Kitchigami Road and upon speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a fail. He was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests and both tests registered above the legal limit.
As a result, 38 year old John MEGGETT from Sarnia, ON has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Race a Motor Vehicle. He has been released from custody with a court date scheduled for July 28, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
