John KRITER – Weapon, Careless Use Of Firearm, etc

(DUTTON-DUNWICH, ON) – On May 28, 2016, the Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and the Middlesex County OPP, responded to a weapons call.

At approximately 12:58 a.m., a group of people were in the area of Shackleton Street and Peter Street, when a round of ammunition was discharged from a firearm.

As a result of the police investigation to date, a 22-year-old male, John KRITER, from West Elgin, Ontario, has been charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, and careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused has been held in custody, and will be appearing in an Elgin County court, to answer to the charges.

This incident is still in its early stages. The Elgin County OPP Crime Unit is assisting with the investigation, and police are interested in speaking with any person(s) who may have seen activity in the area prior to, during, or immediately following the incident.
