North Kawartha Township, ON) – On August 24, 2014, at approximately 2:09 a.m. officers from the Peterborough County OPP had occasion to investigate a driver of an E-Bike on Burleigh St in the village of Apsley.
An officer observed an E-Bike being operated on Burleigh St. by motor only. Although the Bike was equipped with pedals the operator wasn’t using them. Police observed the operator very off balance while negotiating a turn. Police stopped the E-Bike to investigate the driver. As a result of the investigation, 44 year old John Ditchburn of North Kawartha Twp. was charged with Impaired operation of a motor vehicle and having Over 80mgs of Alcohol in his Blood. As a result of a search of the drivers back pack as well, a quantity of Marihuana was seized. An additional charge of Possession of a schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana- over 30 grams was laid.   
Ditchburn was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Peterborough Provincial Courts on October 09 , 2014
