(Otonabee-South MonaghanTownship, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE program in the Village of Keene yesterday shortly before noon.
RIDE officers began to speak with a driver about his expired validation sticker when they noticed a strong odour of marihuana from inside the vehicle. Officers located drugs and a Conducted Energy Weapon (stun gun).
Joe DAFOE (age 50) of no fixed address was arrested and charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance X2 (marihuana and hydromorpone)
Possession of a Prohibited device (Conducted Energy Weapon)
Owner operate a vehicle with no insurance
Operate unsafe vehicle
The accused is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough, Ontario today for a show cause hearing.
