Jerry HOPF – Impaired Driving, Vehicle Impounded

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Friday July 25, 2014 shortly after 10 p.m. a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers on patrol along Line 21 near Cromarty, observed a suspicious pickup truck in a laneway. The truck drove away and was stopped by the officer.

The male driver of the truck, while being spoken to by the officer displayed signs of impairment. The male was arrested and transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville where he was to provide samples of his breath into an Intoxilyzer. Upon arrival at the detachment, the male refused to supply samples of his breath.

Jerry HOPF (33) of the Municipality of West Perth has been charged with “driving while ability impaired”, and “fail or refuse to provide sample”, these charges are both contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear at the Stratford Court of Justice on September 08, 2014 to answer to these charges. He was also issued a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the pickup truck he was operating was impounded for seven days.
