(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On December 20, 2015 at approximately 1:38 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Highway 6 near College Avenue in the City of Guelph.
Officers spoke with the female driver of a 2005 Nissan that entered into the spot check and immediately detected the odour of alcohol on her breath and quickly determined that her ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
27-year-old Jennifer LAPENSEE of Hamilton has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 12, 2016 to answer to the charges.
