(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On February 25, 2017 at approximately 8:34 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 18 near the Second Line in Centre Wellington Township.
Police arrived at the scene and observed a 2008 Honda on the north shoulder resting on its roof and driver’s door. While speaking with the male driver officers detected the strong odour of alcohol on his breath and noted physical signs of possible impairment and he was placed under arrest.
He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Breath samples for analysis were provided at the hospital.
30-year-old Jeffrey VANDER VAART of Kitchener has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on March 31, 2017 to answer to his charges.
His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
