During the early morning hours of 27 September, a Wingham Police officer on patrol observed a male operating a motorcycle on Josephine St without a proper helmet. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle however the driver sped off and eventually pulled into his residence.
The officer approached the man and signs of impairment were detected. The man was placed under arrest and when being placed in the back of the cruiser, he began to struggle, grabbing the officer’s uniform and equipment. The OPP were contacted and attended to assist. The man was taken to Goderich where breath tests were administered and it was determined that he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
Jason Richardson, age 37 of Wingham is charged with Impaired Driving, Drive with more than 80mgs of Alcohol, Flee Police, Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, Operate Motor Vehicle with No Insurance, Drive Motor Vehicle with Improper License, Fail to wear Helmet on Motorcycle and Drive Motor Vehicle and No currently Validated Permit.
