(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a male driver with several offences after he approached a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on Hwy 12 bypass in Orillia.
On November 26, 2013 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Orillia OPP officers were stationed at a RIDE check on Highway 12 bypass at Hurtubise Drive. A vehicle approached the location at highway speed and had to swerve nearly striking an officer at the location.
Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested male driver. Jason DOHERTY, 29 years old of Orillia, has been charged with the following offences.
Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle
Drive with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood
Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle
Driver operate vehicle with no insurance
Novice driver blood alcohol content above 0
He was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in Orillia on December 17, 2013.
