(LAMBTON, ON) – On Saturday April 29th, 2017 at just after 12:00 a.m. members the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol, observed a motor vehicle being operated in a suspicious manner in the area of Lasalle Line and White Pine Road, Brooke-Alvinston Township.
OPP conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the adult male driver. During this contact, OPP formed the opinion that the driver was impaired due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP – Petrolia Detachment for breath testing which resulted in readings almost twice the legal limit. A subsequent search of the vehicle also located a small quantity of open alcohol.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 36 year old Jamie Bruce MACKINLAY of St. Clair Township, ON and has been charged with:
Driving While Ability Impaired
Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood
Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday May 29th, 2017.
The OPP is again reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or other drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada.
