James VAN DER GULIK – Drunk Driving

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – On December 31, 2016, at approximately 11:35 p.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) checkpoint on Dorchester Road at Byron Avenue.

A motor vehicle, a blue Dodge car, travelling southbound on Dorchester Road, entered the checkpoint. Officers determined that the 24-year-old male driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered and the driver registered a “fail”. He was placed under arrest and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for further breath testing, which revealed he had consumed more than twice the legal limit of alcohol.

As a result of the police investigation, James VAN DER GULIK, from Thames Centre, Ontario, has been charged with care or control over 80 mgs, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to answer the charge in a London court on February 23, 2017.
