(DEEP RIVER, ON) – On December 07, 2016 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), OPP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), Tactical Response Unit (TRU) and Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) executed a Criminal Code (CC) search warrant at a residence in the Town of Deep River. Drugs and weapons were seized as part of the investigation.
As a result 59 year old James Morris BROWN of Deep River was arrested and is facing the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and CC charges:
Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking – Cocaine
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana under 30 grams
Attempt to Obstruct Justice
Unauthorized possession of a Weapon – 2 counts
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
He was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released on a Recognizance of Bail. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 03, 2017.
Further to this incident, 42 year old Joshua Christopher ATKINSON of Deep River was arrested and is facing the following CDSA charge:
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana under 30 grams
He was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until his next appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on December 13, 2016.
