James BROWN – Collision, Drunk Driving, Careless Driving

(GODERICH, ON) – A collision yesterday afternoon on Huron Road has resulted in two charges being laid against the at fault driver. Just before 12:30 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the intersection of Huron Road and Bennett Street East for a two vehicle collision.

A Honda Civic driver was stopped on Huron Road and was waiting to turn left onto Bennett Street East when the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup collided with the rear end of the Civic. Upon speaking with the driver of the pickup truck it was noticed the male driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a Fail. He was arrested and transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilzer Technician and both tests registered over the legal limit.

As a result, James BROWN, 35, from Ingersoll, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Careless Driving. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on August 25, 2014. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

Neither driver sustained injuries however both vehicles sustained moderate damage.
