Jack-Knifed Tractor Trailer Vs Station Wagon

On January 16, 2015 at 10:08 am a tractor trailer collided with a Subaru station wagon on Line 86 just east of Wallenstein. The tractor trailer was eastbound on Line 86 when the truck began to lose control and jack knife, crossing over into the westbound lanes. The westbound Subaru struck the truck on the passenger side causing the truck’s fuel tank to leak. The occupants of the Subaru, a 56 year old Cambridge man, and a 20 year old Kitchener woman sustained non life threatening injuries as a result of the collision.

The truck driver, a 32 year old man from Brampton, was not injured. The road was closed for several hours due to the a significant quantity of diesel fuel that was leaked onto the roadway and into the ditch. The Ministry of Environment was notified and a HAZMAT team was dispatched to the site. Speed and alcohol were not factors, however, road conditions are believed to be a significant factor in this collision. The investigation is continuing.
