(TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE, ON) – On December 7, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single Motor Vehicle Collision (MVC) at the junction of Highway 17 and Highway 538 in the Village of Algoma Mills.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m., police observed an eastbound vehicle that had left the highway and slid into the south side ditch. Investigation determined the driver was suspended and the vehicle was not insured.
As a result, Isabelle BOUCHARD, 25 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was charged with:
Driving While Under Suspension (X2), contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA);
Use Plates Not Authorized for Vehicle, contrary to section 12(1)(d) of the HTA; and
Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The vehicle driver and passenger did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was towed and the plates were seized by police.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on February 15, 2017.
