(IRQOUOIS FALLS) – An officer with the Iroquois Falls OPP has charged a Chatham driver with a number of traffic offences contrary to the Highway Traffic Act stemming from a traffic stop during the early morning hours of November 10th on Synagogue Street in Iroquois Falls.
The OPP officer, while patrolling the downtown core of Iroquois Falls, observed a pickup truck complete a turn in an unsafe manner.
The vehicle was stopped by the OPP officer.
The driver and passenger were interviewed at the road side and based on the observations made by the officer, the driver, Paul EMERY, 26, of Chatham, has been charged with:
Fail to Surrender Licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Drive Motor Vehicle – No Currently Validated Permit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Fail to Wear Complete Seat Belt Assembly contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
A passenger in the vehicle, Jordan ZOLDY, 26 of Iroquois Falls was also charged with Fail to Wear Complete Seat Belt Assembly contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
The South Porcupine OPP reminds motorists that the obligations to be safe and responsible while behind the wheel rests squarely on the shoulders of the individual driver.
Those motorists who insist on driving in contravention of the Highway Traffic Act can rightfully expect to face the consequences which include monetary fines and the possible accumulation of demerit points.
