(CALEDON, ON) – On December 27th, 2013 at approximately 6:35 pm, a concerned citizen contacted the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report a possible impaired driver. Officers attended the area of the Gore Road and located the vehicle, a beige Honda Civic stopped on the edge of the roadway. As the officer approached the vehicle, the officers observed as the driver made a northbound U-turn in front of the marked police cruiser. The officer activated the emergency equipment and conducted a vehicle stop to check on the driver’s sobriety. Upon speaking with the male driver, the officer detected a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. As a result, the male was arrested and transported to Detachment for testing.
In conclusion, Iqbal SINGH, 53, of Brampton was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on January 9, 2014.
