Intoxicated Man Arrested After Throwing Firecrackers At Trick-or-Treaters

(Asphodel-Norwood Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called last night shortly before 7:30pm after a trick or treater was stuck with a firecracker by an intoxicated male on King Street in Norwood.

Officers located and arrested a male who matched the description of the suspect. After being taken into custody, police located firecrackers and marihuana in the suspect’s pockets. Cory SANBACH (age 31) of Havelock, ON was transported to the OPP detachment, where it is alleged that he caused damage to the holding cells. The suspect has been charged with:

Assault with a weapon (throwing firecrackers at children)

Common Nuisance

Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (marihuana)

Mischief under $5000 (damaging the holding cell)

The accused is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough, Ontario later today for a show cause hearing.
