Impaired Drives Caught Overnight

(CRAMAHE TWP, ON) –On July 22, 2015 at 11:57pm a Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 401 in the Colborne area. A brown Honda was stopped for speeding and the driver was found to have been drinking. A roadside test was administered which he failed. The man was arrested and a subsequent search revealed him to be in possession of cocaine. He was transported to the Brighton detachment for further tests.

As a result of these tests, Steven NOAH age 25 of Orleans, Ontario is charged with having Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg in 100ml of blood and Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – cocaine. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on August 12, 2015.

(PORT HOPE, ON) –On July 23, 2015 at 3:40am Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a disabled Jeep Cherokee in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 blocking the centre and left lanes. Shortly afterwards, police received a second call indicting a collision had occurred. When officers arrived they determined that a Lexus SUV had rear ended the Jeep. The two occupants of the Lexus were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Jeep had exited his vehicle prior to the collision and was uninjured. Officers observed signs of impairment on the remaining driver and performed a roadside test which resulted in a ‘fail’. The man was transported to the Cobourg detachment for further tests.

As a result of these tests, Trevor CANDOW age 33 of Cobourg, Ontario is charged with having Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg in 100ml of blood. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on August 12, 2015.
