(THUNDER BAY, ON) On May 17, 2015 at approximately 12:55 am, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of an erratic driver on Highway 61.
Officers located and stopped the vehicle in question. While speaking with the driver, officers detected an odour of alcohol emitting from the drivers breath and the driver exhibited obvious signs of impairment. Subsequently, the driver was found to be over the legal limit.
Rana SUGANQUEB, 40 years of age, from Thunder Bay was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code.
She is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on July 24, 2015 to answer to the charges.
On May 17, 2015 at approximately 5:30 pm, officers responded to a 911 call advising of an erratic driver on Highway 102, the vehicle had left the roadway and was now in the ditch west of Hazelwood Drive.
Officers attended the scene and while speaking with the driver, officers detected an odour of alcohol emitting from the drivers breath and the driver exhibited obvious signs of impairment. There were no injuries reported.
As a result of the investigation, Scott BRUCE, 44 years of age, from Thunder Bay was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code.
He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on August 4, 2015 to answer to the charges.
Thunder Bay OPP would like to remind the public that officers continuously monitor roadways for drivers who are impaired by alcohol or drugs.
The public is encouraged to call 911 and report impaired drivers immediately so these drivers can be taken off the road before someone is seriously injured or killed.
The OPP want to thank all concerned citizens who report erratic, aggressive and impaired drivers. The OPP are committed to keeping provincial roadways and highways safe.
