Impaired Driver Tracked Down By K9 After Hit And Run

On Sunday December 13, 2015 at 10:00 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on King Street East at the intersection of Concession Road in the City of Cambridge. A motor vehicle had lost control and mounted the curb, striking and severing a concrete hydro pole. The vehicle continued to cross several residential lawns before becoming airborne and coming to rest after it collided with a parked car. The occupants exited the vehicle and fled the area as the vehicle erupted into flames. With the assistance of a number of witnesses, police located the two occupants with the assistance of canine. The 25 year old male driver faces numerous criminal charges including Failing to Remain at the scene of a collision, Dangerous Driving, Impaired Driving and Operation Over 80 Mgs. Damage to the involved motor vehicles, hydro pole and residential lawns was extensive. No one was injured as a result of the collision.
