(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On Saturday, May 2, 2015 at approximately 3:15 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped the driver of a 2012 GMC Terrain for speeding 119 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone on Hwy. 10 near Southgate Rd. 24 in the Township of Southgate.
The driver of the vehicle was found to have been drinking alcohol. Upon failing a roadside breath test, the driver became very agitated, confrontational, and resisted arrest for impaired driving.
Breath tests conducted at the OPP Detachment indicated that the driver had more than three times the legal amount of alcohol in his blood stream.
Gary ST. AMANT, 61, of Brampton, Ontario was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, over 80 milligrams, and resist arrest under the Criminal Code as well as for speeding under the Highway Traffic Act. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, May 14, 2015.
