Impaired Driver Crashes Stolen Minivan Into Residence

On January 4th, 2016 at 6:00 p.m., numerous complainants contacted the Waterloo Regional Police to report a beige minivan being operated in a dangerous manner in the area of Westmount Road West and Victoria Street South in the City of Kitchener. Prior to being located by police, the vehicle was involved in a single vehicle collision with a private dwelling near Stirling Avenue South and Mausser Avenue. Responding officers arrested the sole occupant of the motor vehicle on-scene for Dangerous and Impaired Driving (by drug). It was later learned that the motor vehicle had been stolen from another Kitchener address just prior to the original driving complaints. While no one was injured, both the vehicle and the residence sustained significant damage. The 26 year old male driver, originally from Toronto, is facing charges of Impaired Operation (by drug), Dangerous Driving, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 and a number of offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
