(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On January 23, 2018 at approximately 11:15 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a black sedan driving all over the road nearly causing a head-on collision. Officers were dispatched to the area on County 32 near Highway 7, Township of Guelph-Eramosa.
An officer located the suspect vehicle on County Road 32 and observed the vehicle driving in a dangerous manner. A traffic stop was initiated.
While speaking with the driver, officers formed the belief that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.
46-year-old Jason FITZSIMMONS of Hamilton has been charged with Impaired Driving, Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood and Dangerous Operation of a Motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on February 20, 2018.
