Hwy 7/8 Closed For Nearly Two Hours Due To Collision

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Friday January 13, 2011 at approximately 8:50 a.m. Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a tractor trailer and car collision on Hwy 7/8 east of Shakespeare.

Investigation revealed that the driver of an east bound KIA Rio lost control of her vehicle on Highway 7/8, and crossed into the path of a west bound tractor trailer. The KIA struck the front drivers side of truck and came to rest on the South shoulder. The driver of the truck was able to safely bring his vehicle to a stop on the North shoulder.

The lone female driver of the KIA was transported to Stratford General Hospital with minor injuries. The KIA was totalled as a result of the crash. The transport truck sustained sufficient damage that it was required to be towed from the scene. Highway 7/8 between Road 106 and Road 104 remained closed until 10:45 a.m. allowing for the safe removal of the damaged vehicles and scattered debris from the roadway.
