Human Remains Update – Identity Confirmed as Missing Man from 2009

(NORTH BAY, ON) – On October 9, 2016, the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), under the direction of Detective Inspector Mark Zulinski of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), investigated found human remains on a private property in Bonfield Township.

The search for the remains was completed on the evening of October 13, 2016 after OPP carried out a very methodical search through very dense and rugged terrain.

The remains were transported to the Northeast Region Forensic Pathology Unit at the Health Sciences North Hospital in Sudbury where a post mortem exam was conducted on October 17, 2016. The human remains were identified as Michael LAFRAMBOISE, age 42, at the time of his disappearance, of Mattawa, Ontario.

At the time of his disappearance on May 9, 2009, an extensive search was conducted by officers of the North Bay OPP Detachment, Canine Team and Emergency Response Team (ERT).

There is no foul play suspected in the discovery of the remains and OPP advise that there is no concern for public safety relating to this incident.
